Michael Wetzel's past jobs
In this position I was responsible for the future product strategy powertrain and battery portfolio in Europe. Since 2018 I lead large cross-brand and cross-functional project teams and I have implemented strategic guidelines for Volkswagen Group’s portfolio. Those car and powertrain plant transformation concepts resulted in a profit of more than 3,5 billion €. Last topics I worked with were a new battery concept regarding cost, range and charging time balancing, cell chemistry influence, sustainability in the value chain and the benefits of a swapping concept.
As engineer in the product management I worked in the product development unit of the Volkswagen group. I had to focus to deliver results on time and be flexible for sudden change as well as create feasible products. My strong background in fluid- and thermodynamic was beneficial for my colleagues and enabled me to implement improvements in the development process. Within this time, I was responsible for product cost optimization in Great Britain at Bentley Motors Ltd. for 6 months.
