Michelle K's current jobs
I'm sharing my experience and knowledge of the audiobook industry to help publishers, authors, and freelancers get involved in the most rapidly growing sector of publishing. Services include: casting, project coordination, consulting, distribution, and others.
Michelle K's past jobs
I was responsible for overseeing all aspects (and executing many) of signing and producing audiobooks for Audiobooks.com Publishing and Author's Republic Publishing. From acquiring audio rights, casting and coordinating production to project management and marketing, I worked hands-on and guide our team in creating awesome, unforgettable audio productions. I also lead general content strategy and innovation while managing budgets and exploring business development opportunities.
As the merchandiser and copywriter for Audiobooks.com, my goal was to make sure our website and apps looked good and sounded even better. My work with our customer-facing merchandising focused on making sure our listeners could find their next favourite audiobook, while considering region restrictions, COGS, publisher requests, customer demographics, and overall site balance. Copywriting responsibilities included everything from landing pages to in-app sliders to press releases, always keeping in mind our brand voice and language. I also got the incredible opportunity to develop the brand voices for Recordio (www.recordioapp.com) and Author's Republic (www.authorsrepublic.com) from the ground up, deepening my understanding of self-publishing and the specific challenges self-published authors and small publishers face when transitioning to the audiobook world. Working at Audiobooks.com allowed me to gain a fundamental understanding of the audiobook industry from the perspective of a retailer, a customer, and a merchandiser.
