Developed software for the innovative pickup, packing, shipping, and fulfillment service offered by Shyp. Led a team of engineers across multiple timezones in defining the technical direction of a new pricing engine while maintaining backward compatibility. Led the upgrade of our postgreSQL database from version 9.3 to 9.4 while avoiding downtime for developers and customers. Designed and implemented a software solution for charging a customer based on the package size which led to predictable pricing for customers. Created a tool to intelligently provide shipping cost estimates to customers depending on their specific needs. Contributed to the creation of a seamless shipping experience for marketplace sellers, which included intelligent integrations with partner APIs such as Shopify. Removed an unnecessary deployment step across multiple apps which led to a 30% decrease in deployment cycles. Built the abstraction of our core shipping logic to allow the team to easily switch the underlying 3rd-party shipping API for robustness and redundancy. Helped develop Shyp for Web using React and Redux in under two months, significantly improving the experience for our higher volume customers. Helped create and distribute an internal CLI written in Go which automated tasks related to pull requests and saved coworkers time. Contributed a feature to the open source Easypost Node.js library which allowed developers to configure HTTP request timeouts. Worked as a courier and warehouse technician on multiple occasions to better understand their workflows and pain points and then implement solutions to address problems I observed. Worked on several other features such as regional carrier integrations, eBay promotions, discount service abstraction, price overrides, volume discounting, etc.

I was an early engineer on a small team creating a highly available server application for chatting within teams using Ruby on Rails, backbone.js, Node.js, postgreSQL and mongoDB. Helped scale engineering from 3 to 7 people across multiple teams. Contributed to the Hall Web and Desktop interface revamp which led to 3x engagement and retention. Developed the Hall platform engine to enable integrations with third party services such as Asana and Github. Worked on backend systems that utilized Socket.io to broadcast unread message statuses to end users devices. Built push notifications on a per-room basis based on unread status. Led the technical work to transition FarmVille into SOX compliance and became the go to person for FarmVille’s payments systems. Introduced diligent performance testing of game features and provided recommendations to the engineering and art teams that in one instance led to a 50% reduction in load times.

Worked on the e-trading desk. Helped improve speed of risk updates for traders as well as create a posttrade flow for our electronic trading application.

Worked with the Interest Rate Products desk to build an application that monitors callable bonds that have been issued in the market. Traders used the app to make better market decisions.
