Modeling new business initiatives and supporting decision making using financial insights were key aspects of my role.
RESIDE Worldwide, Inc. is a leading alternative accommodation firm headquartered in Seattle, WA that utilizes its proprietary 3SIXTY technology platform to provide vetted and flexible accommodations options to global travelers no matter the destination or the duration of their stay. RESIDE Worldwide owns a variety of hospitality companies, including RESIDE Management Services and RESIDE Realty Group. At RESIDE, I was responsible for all accounting functions including financial reporting, technical accounting and accounting policy, and operational accounting encompassing AR, AP, Payroll, Fixed Assets, and GL accounting. I also partnered with corporate FP&A on monthly finance decks and performed financial modeling for evaluating new and complex transactions.
As a manager at Starbucks corporate headquarters in Seattle, I supported the global accounting and finance organization through both technical accounting and financial reporting. Through my technical accounting responsibilities I performed analysis of new and complex transactions for the Company including acquisitions & divestitures, partnerships, new business initiatives and investments for relevant accounting treatment. My responsibilities also included evaluating all new FASB pronouncements and leading implementation efforts of significant new accounting pronouncements for the Company (Revenue Recognition, Leases and Hedging). Through my Financial Reporting responsibilities I partnered with Investor Relations and Corporate FP&A on internal and external reporting including SEC filings, press releases and public earnings releases. Key accomplishments include: -M&A - Accounting for $7b transaction with Nestle and multiple acquisitions and divestitures. -Accounting Policy - Implementation of ASC 606 including drafting global accounting policy. -Treasury - Accounting for $5b accelerated stock repurchase and $3b debt issuance. -Renewable energy strategy - Evaluation and accounting for tax-equity investments and power purchase agreements. -Corporate Development - Evaluation and accounting for complex contracts including partnerships and investments.
CliftonLarsonAllen LLP is a professional services network and the eighth largest accountancy firm in the United States. As a manager at CLA, I led engagements including financial statement audits, quality of earnings reports and consulting engagements for a diverse client base. Technical skills include financial statement analysis, evaluation of complex transactions including business combinations, preparing financial statements in accordance with US GAAP and evaluation of internal controls. Through these engagements I developed strong relationships with my client base which included not only the engagements I led but also served as the liaison to CLA's other service lines including tax and advisory services and in turn managing the entire customer relationship. In addition to the technical aspects of my role, I led campus recruiting efforts, interviewed candidates, on-boarded and trained new hires, performed real-time and annual evaluations for staff, managed engagement teams and assisted in career development for employees throughout the firm. I led both local and regional trainings for the use of data analytics software, firm-wide initiatives, and annual assurance training for our assurance department.
