Delivered build environments, infrastructure, wrote & supported production services. Part-remote position. Built infrastructure and microservices in Lambda with Python 3 for an IoT/big data project. Created load tester to push 360 million messages per day. Improved legacy ETL process speed by 450x. Wrote tool to show errors per service for previous X minutes, drill down to exception and show logs alongside metrics. Transitioned data marketplace project from development to production. Automated infrastructure setup, CI/CD and deployments with Jenkins, created workflow for teams located across three companies, discovered and documented customer’s 60 microservice Docker-based architecture and bespoke container management tool, supported project in production. (promoted from Feature Team Lead Nov 2015) Line managed two teams of five developers. Reduced AWS spend by several thousand per month. Ensured platform was resilient, monitored, scalable and secure. Architected & led development of IoT management platform on AWS using Python, Django, Flask/Eve and Node.js. Included UI, mobile APIs and infrastructure. Led requirement discovery workshops with QA, dev team & PO. Worked in agile workflow as scrum master, coached new scrum masters. Wrote tools to debug issues between mobile apps and APIs. Reverse-engineered Android apps. Created UI automation framework based on Selenium. Wrote Django-native BDD test framework. Built sites using in-house software based on Zend Framework. Architected and led development of car rental marketplace. Automated server provisioning. Replaced a manual playbook, reducing time from hours to minutes. Developed SVG rendering pipeline to support on-demand PDFs. These were previously laid-out via code, a time-intensive process.

Fujifilm's growth of their Drupal site led to increasing demands on their server. I designed custom tools in Node.js and PHP to aggregate performance data, and give a detailed map of the application’s weak points. This showed where to focus efforts, and we quickly progressed to a faster and more stable site.

Led development of RAC’s new route planner, including load testing and resolution of performance issues. Used profiling and benchmarking tools to increase capacity by 10x. Wrote Django CMS to create microsites for company pension plans. Rebuilt RAC’s European Breakdown application in Python. Developed spreadsheet simulator to ease online migration of internal calculators.

Designed, developed and documented gas platform monitoring webapp for company-wide consumption, using PHP/MySQL, Oracle, Javascript, XML and XSL. Authored Dreamweaver extension to manage monitoring screens.

Co-founder of web design co-op. Skinned and extended Wordpress and Drupal sites. Created premium-rate SMS voting system.
