I co-founded D-RisQ to accelerate and improve the certification of safety-critical systems through the use of formal verification. As CEO, I set the strategy for the development of the software tools in order to ensure that they can programme teams in achieving regulatory compliance in domains as diverse as aerospace, autonomous systems, automotive, medical devices, and other complex software domains. Key responsibilities and contributions: - Authored and contributed to international certification standards, including DO‑178C and DO‑333, with ongoing advisory input to regulatory and industry bodies (e.g., FAA, EASA, MOD). - Led the design and deployment of formal verification tools (Kapture®, Modelworks®, CLawZ®) that automate early-stage assurance, enabling earlier detection of defects and generation of certifiable evidence. - Provide strategic oversight and compliance advisory for clients developing autonomous systems, including serving as Chair of the Design Authority for the OLTER programme (offshore long-term autonomy). - Deliver specialist training in DO-178C and formal methods, tailored for programme and engineering leaders who require both regulatory depth and implementation clarity. - Support clients in demonstrating tool qualification, traceability, and verification coverage, aligned with software regulatory standards. - Represent D-RisQ in high-level consortia autonomous systems (air, sea and sub-sea), defence platforms, and next-generation avionics programmes. Through this role, I act as a technical and strategic partner to programme managers seeking to reduce risk, streamline compliance, and maintain control over complex, high-assurance developments.

D-RisQ is developing high integrity tools to meet the needs of the embedded systems markets such as aerospace and automotive. We have an automated systems validation tool called Modelworks which enables users of Stateflow or UML to check that system properties or behaviours will be present in their design. We can also check that undesired behaviour will never happen and is fully exhaustive. This enables a huge reduction in both time and risk for the development of systems of systems such as those found in everything from cars to Air Traffic Control systems and from aircraft to financial systems. We also have a capability called CLawZ which provides fully independent and automatic proof that automatic code generated from Simulink is correctly implemented. More information about both CLawZ and Modelworks can be obtained from our website at www.drisq.com.
