Tekano’s Leadership for Social Change in Health Equity Fellowship programme is guided by principles of i) Decoloniality. ii) Feminism. iii) Pan Africanism, and iv) Intersectionality. My role has exposed me to various health and social justice pedagogies, enhancing my knowledge in political economy and social determinants of health. Working at Tekano has ignited my critical thinking on how important health is, in all its different aspects as a social indicator of human development and how it influences the social reproduction system. Working alone in the MEL unit has challenged me to ensure transformative evaluative thinking is continually embedded through planning, development, and administration of monitoring and learning activities to adhere to our decolonial approach when harvesting direct outputs and outcomes of our contribution on Fellows’ work as they advance the health equity agenda, which is the intended impact in our Theory of Change.
