Founded and led the Product function of Opstera which was acquired by Avanade (a Microsoft-Accenture company) in late 2012. Opstera was the #1 provider of Cloud Monitoring & Managed Services in the Microsoft Cloud Ecosystem. Acquired over 500 customers included the top 34 of the 50 Windows Azure cloud customers & 20% of all active Azure customers including Skype, Xbox, Viddy, Pottermore, Nokia and 3M. Enterprise customers included Ford, Entergy, GE, Unicef, McDonalds , ISVs like Invensys, Bing, National Instruments. Opstera was a 2 time winner of the Microsoft "Global Cloud Partner of the Year" award (in 2010 and 2011) and numerous other awards including CRN's top 10 cloud vendor, SI Top 25 and “Top50 SaaS” provider.
Moved to Asia (New Delhi & Beijing) to jumpstart Oracle's R&D "in Asia for Asia". Started Oracle’s R&D center in India, incubated and launched a mobile embedded database product with OEM partnership with Nokia/Symbian. As a part of this intrapreneurial role, responsible for identifying market opportunities, product formulation, strategic partnerships and engineering delivery. Built the team from scratch spread over 4 locations in 3 countries. Developed mobile embedded database for feature phones in emerging markets along with an SDK using J2ME and Python to enable mobile app development on the database. The product reached tremendous scale in just a few months and served as the foundation for many other in-market innovations.
Started at Microsoft in the engineering ranks and grew to run Product & Program Management for SharePoint Services. Worked in Windows, .Net and Office teams and averaged a promotion every 18 months. * Director of Product & Program Management, Office Server team. Incubated and shipped v1.0 of “Duet”, a Microsoft Office -SAP joint product from conceptualization to launch. * Product reached an annual license run rate of over $55M in 2 years. Product started as an internal demo as a part of executive briefing. * Group Program Manager for Windows Server and Tools team driving .NET Remoting- distributed computing platform. Wrote product specifications, worked with engineering to deliver the platform.
