Position as a Stress Engineer in an office of engineering contractors based in Belfast developing the following skills: • Experience of working under pressure and as part of a team. • Ability to work on agreed time scales based on milestone payments and deadlines. A weekly questionnaire, intended to calculate what hours were spent on what task, was used work out efficiency of employee on a weekly basis. • Understanding working with structures made from advanced materials (aero-grade alloys and steels, composite materials) that were highly customisable to suit their needs. Both static and fatigue analyses were conducted. • Aptitude in understanding complex mechanical and avionic systems. • Ability to manage multiple tasks. • Continuous development of engineering expertise and experience whilst working on projects. Projects undertaken include: • Bombardier CSeries - responsible to Lead Stress Engineer for preparation of stress reports for Bombardier on their new high composite usage mid range aircraft. Duties included stress analysis of new designs using spreadsheets, FEM (Patran), CATIA and other common engineering methods. Detailed stress reports (>450 pages) and damage reports were produced for the following locations; fuselage skin penetrations, RAT system and supporting brackets, RAT pressure box, RAT skin cut-out. All reports and documentation were produced to Bombardier standards. • Airbus A350 - Analysis of hinge rib and intermediate rib using updated loadcases. • Learjet 85 - Analysis of fasteners.
