As CEO, the bark stops with me. I oversee our operations, including marketing, fundraising and development, financial management, and day-to-day operations. I'm closely involved with our incredible volunteer staff who foster, walk, train, and assist with every dog who comes through our care. Our focus is helping dogs find their best self through training and care and ensuring that each dog finds the right people for the rest of their life. I also interview, explore, and negotiate our supplier and support partnerships, including a network of veterinary partners as well as boarding facilities and pet care suppliers. We began as a family business and operated as a 100% volunteer organization for our first 10 years. In that time, The Little Red Dog rescued 4,000 dogs and cats from high-kill shelters across Southern California, Texas, and Mexico. On a Mission from Dog: Dogs are man's best friend, but it is not always the other way around. Inspired by the dogs rescued from the Michael Vick dog-fighting ring, The Little Red Dog was born. In the case, told in “The Lost Dogs: Michael Vick's Dogs and Their Tale of Rescue and Redemption,” the little red dog was brutally beaten to death by Vick and his cousin because she didn’t want to fight. We do not discriminate against ANY breed. We rescue all breeds and colors, from high kill shelters and find them loving forever homes. The biggest pitbull rescue in Orange County, we also take seniors, dogs with medical issues, pregnant dogs, and nursing moms. We also rescue strays and owner surrenders and help the community by assisting owners with training and vet care, spaying/neutering, microchipping, and vaccination clinics. We hope one day all dogs and cats will make it out of the shelter system and find loving homes, and there will be no more dog fighting, no more abuse, or cruelty. But we will never forget The Little Red Dog, or the other companion animals that did not make it out alive. We are on a Mission from Dog.
