I worked for Professor Rhoads (Mechanical Engineering) to develop methods of increasing acoustic permeation into solids for use in energetic material detection for the US Navy. My work involved developing least-squares models to reproduce various bounded waveforms at a set of receivers, and also using rejection sampling to analyze source errors.
I lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers to solve engineering problems for our team's overall goal of developing a orbital launch system. I lead development of the on-board sensor package and directed the development of electronic systems for the Launch Orientation and Control (LOCS) sub-system.
I worked as an engineering intern in Dr. Rich Barry's lab. My main project was developing PHAST (Precision High Altitude Star Tracker). I selected the on-board camera system after analyzing CCD noise from an array of options, tested the system at float conditions using an environmental chamber and wrote the control software that utilized the plate-solving framework Astrometry.NET to determine attitude and azimuth.
