I was chosen to run a brand new Nexus format store in an underserved market. Responsible for sales and profit goals, employee recruitment, retention and hiring, employee development and coaching, merchandising and store standards, animal welfare, providing a world class customer experience, inventory management and freight flow, community relations, promoting local marketing events, shrink control, facility maintenance, growing market share. I also serve as the lead GM Training manager for both internal and external hires, resulting in a highly successful turn around of quality trainees being promoted to salaried management positions all over the District. 4 internal promotions to General Manager came directly from my store along with the training of several external hires.
As an external hire, I opened a new store in a brand new ,remote market for the company 3 hours away from closest store. During my tenure in Ocean City my team and me we're able to grow the business by engaging the local community through world class customer service and a well merchandised store delivering the ultimate guest experience. Our store grew from a low volume to. high volume in season store and was recognized several times as the #1 guest experience rated store in the region and Company. Due to our success the company expanded more in this market and eventually opened up 4 more stores in the surrounding area. 5 of my original team members were eventually promoted to Store Leader to these and other stores. This is by far my proudest accomplishment.
Responsible for overall day to day operations of Home improvement Warehouse with yearly sales of 45-50 Million dollars. Duties included overseeing inventory management, staffing,freight flow, delivery, store merchandising standards, employee coaching and development, customer service levels, directly managing a staff of 6 salaried Assistant Store Managers and overseeing a staff of 150, shrink control, meeting sales and expense control metrics.
Led a team of 25 Sales Specialists as well as an Installed Sales Department and Commercial Sales Team totaling a Sales Volume of $25,000,000 annually. Responsibilities included setting sales goals for specialists, achieving sales and margin goals in specialty Departments including Appliances, Millwork, Fashion Plumbing, Kitchen and Bath, Flooring, Installed Sales and Commerical Sales. Also responsible for maintaining and grow Commercial business by creating customer relationships through appreciation events,site visits and superior customer service.
Responsible for all merchandising , inventory control and shrink, , employee supervision and training ,sales ,margin and customer service in the Lumber,Millwork, Building Materials and Commerical Sales Departments. In addition I was also given the added responsibilities of being a key-carrying Manger On Duty. Those duties included opening and closing the store ,cash handling, and running the day to day operations of the entire store as needed.
Assisted in all phases of custom new home construction from foundation to framing to final interior and exterior trim and landscape and irrigation. Also responsible for purchasing materials and arranging delivery of product in time for each stage of construction. In addition ,I also was responsible of keeping homeowner up to date on progress and conducted walk-thrus at their request.
