As Vice President of Engineering, I led the design and engineering teams for the multi-state, Vivint Internet network. By balancing industry best practices and new disruptive 5G technologies, the Vivint network quickly became the #2 fastest ISP in Utah (according to Ookla/Speedtest.net). Vivint became the fastest growing ISP in the states where it was being deployed. Vivint also became ranked by Netflix as the #29 fastest ISP in the USA, far better than any other wireless provider, and better than many cable companies and telcos.
As the CTO for UTOPIA, I directed the technical design, deployment, and operation of the UTOPIA network. I also oversaw the UTOPIA Network Operations Center and IT operations. The UTOPIA network is a Fiber-to-the-Home network consisting of 13 cities in Utah. The network is an open-access, carrier-class, MPLS network, with a 400 Gbps capacity DWDM backbone network that spans from Tremonton, near the north border of Utah, down to St. George, in the south-west corner of Utah, connecting all of the communities in-between. The network allows customers to connect to their choice of service providers who offer triple-play services capable of speeds faster than any cable or DSL network can deliver.
