Trees are an essential part of nature and life. We have cut many trees indiscriminately – every day we read in the papers about more trees cut with no thought to either their possible relocation or replacement. Loss of trees result in: Loss of Habitat (loss of animal and plant species) Increased Greenhouse Gases due to reduced absorption of CO2 Soil Erosion and Destruction Impact on Water Cycle Loss of Biodiversity Climate Change All the benefits that are shown in the image are lost Grow Trees by Dispersing Seed Balls Growing trees is no longer an option. Also, it is not too late to rectify this. Our plan is to enhance tree cover by preparing and dispersing a large number of seed balls through our Partner NGOs in rural districts. Our focus is on native trees such as Neem, Tamarind, Pipal, Teak, Amla etc. which offer multiple benefits of decoration, greenery, fruits and medicinal use. How We work through our Partner NGOs (PNGOs) located in rural districts of India with these guidelines: Assemble a team of volunteers to prepare, disperse and check germination of seed balls Include Forest Official/s in all above activities Have Sufficient space for preparation, drying and storage of seed balls Arrange for publicity in local and state newspapers and TV Channels Connect PNGOs with local Forest Officials who can help Identify land for dispersal of seed balls Recommend which species of trees to be planted Join in the activities of preparing and dispersing seed balls and checking their germination
