As Vice President for Digital and Content, I managed Wall Street Journal Custom Studio (WSJCS) and a national content sales team with responsibility for over 30 reports and the P&L. I led the reorganization of WSJCS, which resulted in programs like "Cocainenomics" (Netflix) and "Billions" (Showtime) and earned the Studio the top place in Ad Age's "Best of Branded Content" of 2015 and over 50 other industry awards within the first year. The new structure and strategy put in place created explosive revenue growth of 384% over two years, while maintaining margins under rigorous cost management. In addition, I oversaw over $200 million in digital revenues to WSJ and MarketWatch, display and programmatic, and was responsible for collaborating on go-to-market strategy (from partnerships like SnapChat, Apple News etc. to Viewablity changes) and implementing and training the global sales organization.
Managed sales of WSJ's strategic editorial products like Journal Reports, Weekend Edition, Mansion, 125th Anniversary edition and Special Ad Sections. Worked closely with edit and product teams to develop ad opportunities and go-to-market strategies. Managed small sales team who sold through the larger account sales teams. Exceeded goal between 130%-145% each year. Grew digital revenue for Journal Reports over 300% in 18 months.
In my role as Head of Strategic Content, I contributed to the division’s strategic planning efforts and ensured strategies for sales, campaigns and marketing initiatives aligned closely with clients' branding efforts. Founded and ran small non-profit (on the side) to help people in unforeseen circumstances. Right as Rain (RAR) was a nonprofit selling donated arts and hand-made crafts to raise money for community members in need of a little helping hand. It connected artisans wanting to give their gift as a gift to real people in need. RAR successfully raised funds to support and encourage individuals and communities, most notably $10K to retrofit a home for a young woman who recently had been paralyzed, $2.5K for a newborn with a rare blood disease and $2.5K to repair a van for a paraplegic man who had been in a recent accident. As Founder, I led the organization’s development efforts, including establishing a 501c3, building partnerships with crafters and developing operational strategy for shipping goods. I additionally executed brand communication strategy by creating the website, driving social media campaigns and overseeing all online and offline efforts to raise awareness of the organization.
As Vice President, I established presence in the US for UK custom publishing company selling G20 magazine to Pittsburgh companies. I identified new growth opportunities and oversaw outreach initiatives, selling 17 pages on goal of 5 pages.
