Sarah Ewing's past jobs
I was brought on board in the key summer months prior to the referendum to bolster the press awareness of the campaign group, as well as publicise their research findings into key referendum topics, including oil and the economy. I created extensive targeted media mailing lists, wrote copy and op eds for the website, and placed features and interviews in the national and regional press, as well as helped coordinate a press briefing at Holyrood. It was a very intensive job, given the short time-frame but we got coverage in the Financial Times, the Telegraph, CityAM, the Sunday Times, MoneyWeek, the Scotsman, the Herald, the Independent, ITV, and BBC.
In 2005, my book 'Losing a Baby' was released by Sheldon Publishing. It was aimed at helping parents cope with the death of their baby from miscarriage, stillbirth or early death. Many of the books existing at the time were very clinical and cold in my opinion so I wanted this book to be much more approachable and to include lots of real-life stories that couples could relate to.
As editor of this London-based parenting magazine, I was brought on board in order to take the magazine to the next level, with a view to nationwide distribution and ultimately its sale to the BBC. I organised flatplans, production schedules, shoots, wrote lots of copy covering kids health, parenting, relationships and work, juggled budgets so we got the best value for money while improving production and design values
I was a features writer on Practical Parenting/Expecting Our Baby, under editors Debbie Musselwhite, Jayne Marsden and Rhoda Parry, covering general health topics, generating story ideas, arranging product call-ins and assisting on shoots.
I was on the features desk of the women's magazine Aura, under the helm of renowned editors Kate Corr, Marcelle D'Argy Smith and Deidre Vine. I liaised with celebrity agents, arranged photo shoots, oversaw the letters page and wrote lifestyle features.
While working at IPC Media, I was also the production assistant at Charles Golding's radio show on LBC that ran from midnight to 4am
Within a week of arriving in the UK, I'd obtained a job at IPC Media at Country Life magazine and for the next six months I did vacancy cover at a variety of magazines, including Country Life, Livingetc, Practical Parenting, and the Men's Division under Mike Soutar
