The ICDF is a registered charity supporting the Baniyala community, located on Blue Mud Bay, the largest East Arnhem Land indigenous 'homeland' with about 150 people. It maintains its Yolgnu language and treasures its cultural traditions. Elders sought assistance in gaining a school, qualified teachers, adult literacy, water, power and new housing. In 2005, this resulted in the Baniyala / ICDF partnership. Current work includes finding ways for communities to make local decisions regarding housing and planning, and the ability to own their own homes, as well as building on business opportunities.
