Sebastian Blumer's current jobs
Since March 2019, I've got the chance to follow up my work as a Technology Manager Laser AM. My daily focus is based on a funding project called IDAM. This project clearly indicates the potential of Additive Manufacturing in terms of Industrialization and perfectly fits in our GKN Additive Road Map. So, my responsibility is to set up a Demonstrator at our GKN Additive production plant. Based on this field of working the following actions can be summarized: 🛠-Technical focus: *Materialdevelopment based on steel alloys (water and gas atomized powders) *Analysis and Evaluation of Multi Laser Strategies and their impact on resulting material properties *Facilities planning, including processes, plant layout and equipment layouts *Value analysis considering cost control and lean manufacturing approach *Monitoring and Evaluation of SLM-System KPI's
Sebastian Blumer's past jobs
In October 2016, I decided to change my focus and searched for an opportunity in the AM industry. GKN Sinter Metals gave me the opportunity to be part of a beta programme, which was related to qualify the Additive Industries MFAB1 Beta System. During this time I could earn and consolidate knowledge focussing on the following topics: 🛠-Technical Focus: *Systemqualification by identifying issues and potentials to speed up L-PBF production *Processdevelopment based on 316l, 1.2709 and AlSi10Mg *Improvement of Multilaser Strategies focussing on Productivity and Part Quality 👦-Soft Skills: *Self-Responsibility enhanced by making daily decision's to speed up system performance *Cross Cultural Communication enhanced by daily experience exchange with the team of Additive Industries *Presentation Skills enhanced by frequently status updates related to MFAB1 system performance within the beta consortium
🛠-Technical Focus: * Materialdevelopment Titanium for Additive Manufacturing applications (beta and gamma alloys) * In-Situ Process Monitoring Strategies based on SLM processes * Operating on SLM Systems with focus on continous improvement of system performance
🛠-Technical Focus: * Materialqualification based on Ti64 * Qualification of post processing strategies for internal structures manufactured by SLM Process * Analysis of process phenomena by using Multi-Phase Flow Simulation * Evaluation of potential for aerospace applications
🛠-Technical Focus: * Design Studies related to weight reduction based on conventional hydraulic parts * Concept Development and Design of Additive Manufacturing optimized hydraulic parts * Evaluation and Validation of generated Additive Manufacturing designs for Aerospace use-cases
