Lead a team of 59 procurement professionals including 6 procurement managers influencing a spend of USD$1.4b across both Direct and Indirect expenditure, additionally overseeing circa $USD $2b in Capex Procurement activity Key Achievements • Achieved 17% savings on production spares and consumables • Implemented structural changes in the strategic supply of direct materials delivering a step change in working capital improvement • Through detailed negotiations was able to eliminate over $200m in performance penalties that were to be applied for the international supply of key raw materials • Commenced a major procurement transformation project to contemporise procurement capability

Provide leadership in commodity management, strategic sourcing, total cost of ownership and value chain solution implementation at both a Global and Regional (Australia) perspective to 24 Procurement Specialists and 93 personnel. A key element of the role was to ensure strong alignment between the Australian Procurement team and the Global Procurement team – driving leverage, optimization and standardization of solutions across the Global organisation. Key Achievements Significant savings were achieved from 08-11 (with plans to drive further value through 2012) through procurement led strategic sourcing projects. Key examples: • 19% cost savings to key production critical on site services to the Alcoa Smelting Plant in Portland Victoria (savings in excess of $7m); • 13% reduction in cost of raw materials for Alumina Grinding Mills (steel) at a time when the traditional processes were leading to cost increases of 18% (savings totalling $1.4m); • Reductions of IT infrastructure support costs of 25%(savings totalling $2m); • 15% savings achieved on key Capital projects for major civil projects (Savings in excess of $15m) Total savings exceeding $300m in 09 and a further $350 forecast in 2010 from a spend base of $2.4b.
