Responsible for all financial aspects of a group of companies involved in motorsport engineering. The group develops and manufactures performance track cars and races cars in high profile international race series. Involved in the upgrade of the group's accounting system, coordinating with internal stakeholders and external consultant.
Continued expansion of the Global business of INC Research led to the acquisition of Kendle International and Trident Clinical in July 2011. Led the European and Asia Pac development and testing of expansion of Oracle 11i. Informed of likely redundancy in October 2011. Shortly after initial redundancy discussions, attended the Kendle Melbourne, Australia office for CRP1 testing, gave a brief overview of the system and gave basic training to both Kendle and Trident Clinical staff. Trained Kendle European staff pre-go-live. Continued with R&D Tax Credit claims in UK, France and Netherlands, negotiated a satisfactory conclusion to an ongoing enquiry into the 2009 and 2010 claims for INC Research UK Limited with HM Revenue and Customs. Ensured a smooth handover of accounting and taxation matters to the Kendle UK office in Camberley as legacy INC staff were all made redundant.
Managed an ever expanding team of staff in the UK and took on more direct management of staff in European offices. Prepared the monthly management accounts and reporting and statutory accounts and tax returns for all five legal entities. Developed R&D Tax Relief claims for the UK companies, back to 2003, persuaded the CFO to claim the Research Tax Credit in France for the French company, following changes to the legislation in France as a result of the economic slow down, which made the tax credit immediately repayable if there was no Corporation Tax liability. Led the enhancement of Oracle 11i for European legal entities, following the acquisition of MDS Pharma Services in June 2009. This increased the number of legal entities in Europe to 11, including a new holding company. Trained new staff on the use of Oracle 11i following the acquisition. Also led an INC team from the UK to MDS' shared service centre in Belfast to ensure a smooth transition of all aspects of accounting over to the INC UK and European based team. Heavily involved in the ensuing business combinations, where duplicate legal entities existed and worked closely with both internal and external legal conusel to ensure information was provided and acted upon timely. Ultimately promoted to Director Accounting Operations.
Made the move from Practice to Industry by moving to INC Research. Responsible for the day to day accounting and tax reporting for a European Group of 5 companies (2 in the UK, France, Germany and Netherlands) and a network of branch and representative offices across Europe. 3 direct reports 1 in the UK, 1 in Hungary and 1 in the Netherlands. Almost immediately had a leading involvement in the designing, testing and training of European element of a company ERP rollout (Oracle 11i) This involved educating the developers in such things as foreign currency transactions and revaluation and VAT. As a result of the Oracle project repsonsible for selecting, interviewing and hiring a temporary member of staff, and as the project moved forward, making the position a permanent one and then hiring additional staff. Following successful roll out of Oracle, promoted to the role of Associate Director.
Started off working at Creaseys as a part-qualified ACCA, Audit Senior. Worked on a variety of clients across the South-East of England. After qualifying in 2000, finished my career at Creaseys as a Portfolio Handler with a large porfolio of SME's ranging from a Music Production and Distribution company, to a group of Golf Courses and a Group of Wine producers.
