Title: CEO
Period: Nov 2011 - Present (14 years, 4 months)
Location: Mountain View

G-Tech is a startup medical device company in the gastro-intestinal diagnostic space. I've been CEO of G-Tech Medical from the basic concept to the current stage in which we are deploying a fully functional prototype wireless, wearable patch based system that measures motility of the gastrointestinal tract continuously and non-invasively over several days, in clinical studies with major Institutions. The initial indication for use will be in determining the optimum time to feed patients recovering from abdominal surgery based on actual function of their digestive tract, to speed recovery and shorten hospital stays. Other early uses include monitoring patients on enteral feeding in the hospital and in nursing homes. Ultimately the goal is to use the system to help quickly target the best treatment for patients with IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) and IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease). We've run over 300 tests in studies at El Camino and Stanford Hospitals and with the Parkinson's Institute beginning in 2016. More recently we have expanded our studies with new post-op recovery trials at Lucille Packard Children's Hospital and Harvard/Boston VA, and in gastroparesis and GERD with gastroenterologists at Stanford. Two papers were published in 2018 from Stanford and El Camino Hospital studies, and a third from Lucille Packard Children's Hospital will be submitted soon. We have achieved this with a very small core team abetted by consultants, contractors and advisors from the medical and scientific communities, and with support from Breakout Labs, and the Fogarty Institute for Innovation, where we are a "Company in Residence". To date we've raised $1.8MM in seed money and over $1.25MM in non-dilutive grants. I've given invited talks at numerous conferences, at Breakout Labs Unboxing, as a finalist at the LyfeBulb IBD Challenge; at the Rainin Foundation IBD Symposium, and at the IEEE meeting at Stanford.
