Interchange Illawarra is a boutique disability service providing individual and specialised support services to people with disabilities in the lllawarra and their families, who currently number approximately 550. After 4 years of general committee representation I was voted as Chairperson at the 2012 AGM. My responsibilities include -leadership of the corporate governance of the Management Committee and the organisation as a whole as well as being involved in strategic planning and future direction planning. -Oversight of constitutional amendments, awareness of all relevant legislation (act and regulations) and the duties of all office holders and subcommittees -Chairing of committee and / or executive meetings and the Annual General Meeting. -Representation of the organisation at local, regional and national levels as well as disability advocacy and political lobbying for the members of the CoM and the over 550 families we serve. -With the direction of staff and the treasurer, ensure that planning and budgeting for the future is carried out in accordance with the wishes of the members, and that the organisation continues to operate in a financially viable manner and adhering to all relevant rules and regulations. -Performance review and negotiation of salaries and benefits for the senior management team. -Representation of the CoM on interview panels and in recruitment activities if appropriate. -Public speaking at local, state and national level on the Family Managed Allocation model including at the local TAFE colleges.
