The Global Challenge is an invitational and International Professional Women's Golf teams event where a team from the Northern Hemisphere challenge their counterparts from the Southern Hemisphere for the magnificent Ralph Walton Trophy in the beautiful town of Hermanus in South Africa. The most important part of this world first is that the entire event is positioned to raise much needed funds for the selected charities by making as many birdies as possible. These birdies form the basis of the #BangTheDrum fundraising campaign. At the same time we are totally focused on how to make a difference by highlighting the great things that happen when creating an event that has an element of total inclusiveness. With this in mind, 2018 will for the first time in the history of golf see the inclusion of Global Ambassador and Paralympic gold medalist wheelchair tennis player Monique Kalkman (who has now turned to golf) be included in the Northern Hemisphere team and play alongside her able bodied team mates.
