I chose to start a business a few weeks after 9/11, flying that morning over the downtown landscape and landing in Richmond Virginia not knowing what I had just flown over was a bit of a jolt for me - I didn't want to get back on a plane again but being in the corporate world my job was to go from one manufacturing facility to another & one sales office to another to manage my clients & my companies needs as well as grow the businesses I was involved in.....I planned and thought and planned and chose to open a Holistic Pet supply store where I could educate humans about their animal’s nutritional & health needs - I had been rescuing animals and deep into the world of nutrition since I was a kid diagnosed with type 1 diabetes – proper holistic nutrition and exercise allows us all to live a healthy and hopefully long life and I always connected the same principals of nutrition to caring for all of the animals in my life. I knew more about pet foods than most people I met within the natural pet industry (I had spent some time at pet food manufacturing facilities prior to opening the store). I am grateful to have many friends in the field of veterinary medicine both holistic and allopathic whom I have learned from and annoyed a bit perhaps over the years – the experience and knowledge I have gained and continue to gain from these amazing people has been pivotal in my approach to animal care and nutrition. I hold on tight to these friendships as they have helped guide my life to where I am now.
