Rune Sandholt founded NGUVU with the goal to create jobs for some the most vulnerable women in Kenya. That way the women can provide for themselves and their children. The largest initiative is with 150+ female coffee farmers in Meru, near Mount Kenya. They have been exploited by middle men, who paid the women poorly and always too late. That kept the women in debt and constant insecurity. Now NGUVU gives the women a fair pay on time. The women receive training by coffee agronomists, so they can optimise their farms and they get more coffee trees from our coffee nursery, with the goal of increase their production of coffee beans. Moreover, they get water tanks, so they can water their farms during droughts. Companies in Denmark buy the coffee beans directly from the women. That way they can get delicious coffee and at the same time strengthen the women and their children. www.nguvu.dk.
