Anyone can give a talk. But not everyone is remembered for one.To be a truly successful speaker who gets TAPPED to speak, you need a talk that’s both universal—and uniquely yours. The problem is that most speaking instruction centers on presentation skills alone—they assume that because you're the expert, you already know what to say. This isn’t a true or fair assumption. Anyone can tell you to be enthusiastic. That’s the easy part. But that’s not where a great talk is made. Tapped to Speak LIVE is a two-day, in-person event designed to help you identify and begin to craft your signature, TED-worthy talk. And in so doing, help crystallize what it is you most want to share with the world, and say it in a way that moves. It's based on my online course Tapped to Speak, a self-study, six-week course that walks you through the process. (More at TappedtoSpeak.com) During the two-day workshop, you will: -Discover what makes a TED-worthy talk—and how to find your big idea -Gather expert insights into how to approach your own expertise and stories -Start working, right then and there, on your the key ideas to fuel your signature talk -Learn the Gateless Writing approach to tapping your creative flow and most powerful personal stories -Find out how to avoid the mistakes even seasoned speakers make -Discover how to get laughs (even if you don’t think you’re funny) -Learn what TEDx and event organizers are looking for (and avoiding) -Network with other speakers and professionals in a positive, creative, and fun atmosphere Learn more at tappedtospeaklive.com
As a content, branding, and media pro, I know what it takes to snag media attention, and give the media what it wants. Having worked with authors, experts, and entrepreneurs for years, I took all of that insight and practice and put it into my first big online course, which I co-created with my friend and business partner Paula Rizzo, a seasoned TV news producer and author. The result is Lights Camera Expert, a 6-week course designed for the professional who wants to be a go-to media expert. I've seen other people offer media prep and coach work as a way to be your own publicist; however, we think it's about more than that. It's about being your own PRODUCER and demonstrating mastery for the world to see, and knowing how to pitch it in a way that draws attention. The course opens twice a year, and enrollment is by acceptance only—we take great pains to ensure that the people who are in it are a fit for it and each other, so that they can support each other in their efforts to ramp up their media brands. I do one thing exceptionally well: I identify, distill, and articulate critical brand messaging — and I do it for a range for individuals and companies across a range of industries, from financial services to fashion, and from seasoned pros to budding entrepreneurs. I distill their message and make it sing across all platforms. I will do surgery on your brand and business right in front of you, and while I don't use anesthetic, I promise you'll be glad you were awake for it. If there's one thing people tell me they get from me and NOWHERE else, it's that I can quickly get to the heart of what they're trying to say, do, and be, and help extract it from them like no one else can. I'd call myself the brand whisperer, but I think someone has laid claim to that term already. But it does describe what I do. I'm backed by a team of like-minded, uber-talented solo pros in the areas of content, design, social media, and PR. If you're trying to get someone's attention, I've got you covered. So who's next? Come on. It won't hurt a bit.
