1Jun21 I think of primary health care as a needle pulling long threads. With 118,000+ patients the Alliance Health Plus Trust (AH+) is a New Zealand primary health organisation (PHO) established in August 2010 by amalgamating three PHOs (Langamalie also known as Tongan Health Society; AuckPac; TaPasefika). NZ's 36 PHOs are accredited by NZ's Ministry of Health & designated district health boards to receive public funding for disbursement to member-organisations (general practices, social service providers) so as to provide primary health care through medical & social services for member-patients & clients. Few countries, certainly not New Zealand, have feasible solutions for that purpose & its underlying pressures which include supply (work force ageing/work-life balance/international competition for skills; new technologies; opex and capex constraints) & demand (ageing population & redistribution; co-morbidities, diagnosed disease, risk factors; health inequalities; public expectations for coverage, access & health outcomes). Health's political prominence drives huge flux in the primary & secondary health sectors. The most notable example of flux right now, 25 November 2014, is the financial crisis in the UK National Health Service, responsible for all health care for all UK citizens. Primary Care Trusts covering 29,000 GPs were to be disbanded in 2013 & replaced with commissioning groups. It is difficult in this environment, New Zealand is no exception, to produce sustained, significant, cost effective improvement in health outcomes & effects. So AH+'s challenge is clear! Cloud Region Ltd ceased trading in September 2012 and its business was acquired by 2Onions Ltd which itself ceased trading in 2013. Cloud Region was an entrepreneurial company and part of the COGITA group. On 22 September, Cloud Region acquired the business of the Kiwi technology company ASPX Ltd founded by Messrs Robert Perelini, Mike Gollop and Martin Hunter. Cloud Region provided cloud computing services to New Zealand's primary health sector and to the global online travel bookings industry.
