Ensure implementation and compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its 21 Regulations. Conduct inspections (Risk Assessment) to ensure compliance with OHS legislative framework, conduct audits and participate in occupational health programmes and projects. Monitoring of all contracted projects within the hospital towards OHS compliance. (Lift Installation, Construction and Boiler replacement Projects) Execute operational work such as coordinating the conducting of medical surveillance, PHC and review the disaster management plans. Compile incident investigations reports, OHS Compliance Report and OHS Statistics (COID, Training, Waste and Staff Clinic Consultations Statistics). Participate as member in various committees: Risk Management, Quality Assurance, Employee wellness and Facility Management with Gauteng Department of Infrastructure Development. Facilitate Occupational Health and safety Trainings within the Hospital and purchasing of Personal Protective Equipments in various departments. Provide Occupational Health services to employees that lead to the promotion, protection and restoration of the employee’s health within a safe working environment. (National Core Standards Compliance) Develop relevant Occupational Health protocols and Standard Operational Procedure within the Hospital. Coordinate COIDA administrative procedure within the institution, assist with the completion and sending of COIDA documentation and follow-up’s. Market the Occupational Health and Safety services internally. Coordinate the OHS Committee meetings and OHS representative meetings. Advice Management on legislated Occupational Health and Safety matters. Coordinate water sampling and testing at the laboratory to monitor water quality in the hospital. Coordinate Green Agenda activities such as monthly monitoring of water, energy, chemical and waste generation expenditures. Respond to Gauteng Legislature inquiries on OHS issues in the hospital.
