It first started as a directory to list Chinese-Speaking Therapists in Canada and USA. Would never think this could turn into a ngo back in Oct 2019, when the directory first established. In February 2020, Yujia opened her own private practice in response to the urgent mental health need during Covid-19 Pandemic. In a short time, she found a prevalent macro-level problem. Later, in August 2020, Yujia closed her own private practice. She then dedicated her time to build a NGO that offers unlimited free mental health support with no financial remuneration. For A Safer Space is Officially a Registered Not-for-Profit Organization and a Social Work Value-Centered Social Enterprise in Canada. It offers unlimited mental health support, and a free listing platform for therapists of color, feminist therapists and LGBTQ+ friendly therapists.
