Set up, launched and grew a set of commercially viable set of e-commerce and high-street businesses that import and export high quality products to and from China, India, UK, Europe and Africa. Current t/o of the combined businesses is £multi-million. Employees number 16 in UK and 23 in Internationally. Accountable at top level of the performance and growth of each business. Day to day activities include procurement/supplier sourcing, brand development, sales/marketing strategy setting, business development, budgeting/forecasting, cost control, statutory business administration, human resources, technology, risk management and logistics. Total t/o is forecasted to increase to +£10m in the next 5 years, with +100 staff employed. • Launching the 3 business from zero; funding initial start-up costs of £1,500 on bank credit card whilst a university student. • Taking the 3 companies from financial loss for a period of 5-years to £multi-million t/o within 5 years having turned around shortcomings. • Maintaining and growing revenue and profit margin by maximising opportunities whilst controlling overheads. • Developing compelling brands from scratch and securing trademarked registration worldwide. • Achieving competitive edge by constantly developing product range, with + 50 lines (increasing) at present. • Cutting payroll costs by employing European workers and outsourcing/offshoring online activities to India. • Building and sustaining a team culture of high-performance; motivating and coaching as needed.

Zaam Instant Hand Sanitizer

Appointed at the AGM from 4 candidates, with +90% of the overall votes. Responsible for managing a team of volunteers, whilst overseeing service delivery and driving forward the organisation’s objectives. Operated in conjunction with Executive Committee members and managed a sizeable managed budget. The role had a strong project management bias, with responsibility for major community-driven projects within demanding time, cost and resources targets. • Increased engagement with education amongst the community, including adult education, by prioritising the promotion of education as a key objective; notably providing language classes, homework help and a library. • Removed barriers to employment by encouraging adult education and providing training and support to increase confidence. • Enriched the lives of the community, prevented isolation of elderly members, and detracted young people from crime by organising a comprehensive programme of cultural, social, sporting and religious events. • Generated new funds for the organisation; writing bids and working with external agencies to get funds for collaborative programmes. • Set a robust strategy for the organisation with operational plans, appropriate governance/controls, management structure and policies/procedures. • Provided strong leadership and a unified vision to employees and volunteers; challenging constructively as needed. • Successfully raised the organisation’s profile, increased access to services and grew community participation levels. • Managed on-target delivery of projects including the Membership, Afghan Children School, Women School, Death Committee, Asylum seekers, Mental Health, Health and Housing projects. Continually developed and optimised service delivery; ensuring that it responded to and met to local community priorities and challenges.

Worked within the local community, providing Interpreting services from Pashto/Dari to English for UK Home Office, Immigration Legal Centre, Local government, Legal Service Translation, H.M. Magistrate Court and H.M. Crown Court.
