In this amazing public service appointment, I presided over a wide range of civil and criminal matters concerning citizens of Fulton County.
With approximately $470 million in assets, AHA is the largest housing authority in Georgia and one of the largest in the nation. AHA provides and facilitates affordable housing resources for nearly 50,000 customers. During my tenure at AHA, AHA partnered with private sector developers and investors to leverage federal funds into over $3 billion of private investment and economic development, resulting in revitalized communities featuring healthier affordable housing options. In roles of increasing responsibility, I supported AHA's innovative public/private partnership strategy by providing a full range of legal services and leading a team of highly talented professionals. I advised AHA and its affiliates in matters relating to contracting, procurement, litigation, privacy, data security, administrative hearings, employment, regulatory compliance, corporate governance, torts, fair housing, real estate management, premises liability and a wide range of other legal matters impacting the business. Drafted over 100 nondisclosure agreements to facilitate sales pitches to prospective customers. Led cross-functional team of attorneys from multiple regions across the county in development of a Best Practices Guidebook providing appropriate responses to frequently asked RFP questions, resulting in an expedited, streamlined process for submitting winning proposals for new business.
Negotiated with musicians and music rights holders to record and sell music. Coordinated executive approval of deal terms for recording agreements, drafted contracts with approved terms, negotiated with artist managers and attorneys, and closed deals on time and within budget. Led business affairs for MoJazz jazz label and Biv10, a hip hop label led by New Edition’s Michael Bivins. Negotiated license agreements permitting the use of popular Motown recordings in television productions, including “The Temptations” miniseries and the Super Bowl Halftime Show, “Salute to Motown.” Negotiated agreements permitting the inclusion of new recordings by Motown artists in film, including: - Stevie Wonder in Spike Lee’s “Get on the Bus,” Disney’s “Mulan” and the “Rent” Broadway cast album, - Queen Latifah in New Line Cinema’s “Living Out Loud” starring Holly Hunter. Collaborated with Marketing division on several projects to promote Motown and its artists, including the Johnny Gill Mercedes Benz Sweepstakes, cross-promotion with Absolut Vodka (Absolut Motown) and sponsorship of an event celebrating Motown’s beginnings at Hitsville, USA in Detroit. Negotiated producer and side artist performance agreements with Sean “Puffy” Combs and Missy Elliott.
