As the prime time executive producer at The Weather Channel, I was responsible for the urgency, creativity, social media and technology showcased on the network. I managed a staff with a strong background in journalism and local news. I built a collaborative team that worked to get breaking news on the air quickly. I was responsible for 13 hours of the network’s live programming during the week (2pm-3am). As the executive producer, I also acted as a liaison to marketing, publicity and digital teams. I managed high-profile talent in primetime and made sure they executed the vision. I was brought to The Weather Channel because of my skills in showcasing, news and breaking coverage, team building and social platform focus. My background at ABC News affiliates also helped me gain a lot of experience in storytelling. After working at both the local news and network level, I remained very hands-on. I was responsible for overseeing the content and overall vision of the live programming. I acted as a show doctor and knew how to troubleshoot and teach the staff how certain programs work. I managed by asking for a lot of feedback from my team and took that feedback to marry it to management’s expectations and goals. This incorporated my team’s ideas along with making sure it matched up with the company’s vision.
