As the Senior Learning Designer for the Scaled Education Team at Twitter, I oversaw all of the Twitter Flight School global education initiatives' design and implementation, including Flight School Online (E-Learning), Flight School LIVE (instructor-led), and Flight School LIVE @Home (virtual instructor-led). Flight School is an external-facing professional development platform for advertising professionals that helps learners level-up their skills using Twitter's advertising products and best practices.
As a contracted Learning Designer at Twitter, I was responsible for curriculum development for Twitter Flight School. My responsibilities included meeting with SMEs to conduct a needs analysis, curriculum development, and supporting multiple simultaneous localization workstreams.
As the Knowledge Enablement Specialist for Support Operations, I oversaw InVision's various support teams' curriculum development and training. I worked alongside support team stakeholders to create a new onboarding program for support representatives. I also developed internal training modules for new and upcoming InVision products to help train support team staff before release.
As a contract instructor for CreativeLIVE, I developed several instructor-led training sessions for both live and pre-taped delivery. These courses focused on graphic design, photography, and social media marketing.
As an on-staff Author and Learning Designer for Pluralsight, I helped develop online courses for the Creative, Design, and Engineering segment of the Pluralsight library. I worked diligently to stay up to date on the latest creative software tools and developed timely training materials to ensure Pluralsight members would have the latest information as soon as possible. Besides my responsibilities as the author of my courses, I also served as the producer and editor for my projects, which meant I was responsible for the writing, recording, editing, and post-production of my work. I implemented strict project management techniques to manage the increased production load and meet tight deadlines that coincided with new software releases.
As a senior on-staff Instructor/Learning Designer at LinkedIn Learning, I was responsible for delivering powerful and entertaining online courses that helped creative professionals improve their skills. I conducted needs analyses across graphic design, photography, desktop publishing, and digital marketing communities. I used that data to create a customized curriculum based on the needs of those learners. I worked in tandem with the content management team to develop long-term goals and strategies for the creative library and acted as a self-produced author, which meant planning and managing my production schedule, coordinating with the post-production team and quality assurance, and assisting the content marketing team in ensuring each course was released on time and with maximum impact. Outside of the office, I acted as a brand ambassador for LinkedIn Learning by contributing to industry publications like CreativePro.com and InDesign Secrets. I also hosted and guest-starred on various industry-related podcasts to help promote my position as a thought leader within the industry.
As an on-staff Author and Learning Designer for LinkedIn Learning, I developed new and exciting instructional content for the creative segment of both LinkedIn Learning and Lynda.com. I specialized in creating memorable learning experiences that spoke to users of all levels and incorporated my casual yet informative teaching style. While in this role, I played a crucial role in developing the "Low Touch" author system. The system helped streamline the production process for remote staff authors and contractors by steadily decreasing their reliance on in-house Learning Designers. This system allowed authors to be more self-sufficient, manage their production schedules, and eased the production team's workload, which allowed them to focus on higher priority and production-heavy projects. My courses spanned across multiple segments, including graphic design, photography, mobile apps, social media marketing, community management, and business skills. I maintained a high author approval rating while also managing a large production schedule between 18-24 courses per year. I developed my own unique production template, which allowed me to streamline the course development process and deliver high-quality instruction without sacrificing deadlines.
As an on-staff Author/Learning Designer for Lynda.com, I was responsible for the research and development of over 50 online courses. While my main focus was on the creative library, I also developed instructional content for the photography, business, and web design segments of the Lynda.com Online Training Library. While in this role, I became the first self-produced author on the Lynda.com roster. I was responsible for the planning, development, recording, and post-production preparation for all of the courses I was assigned. This meant managing a production schedule of 6-8 classes simultaneously, all at various development stages, while maintaining a high author approval rating, finishing ahead of deadlines, and maintaining existing courses with necessary updates and bug fixes. My other responsibility as a Staff Author was to represent the Lynda.com brand at various trade conferences and events throughout the year. I gave public lectures, delivered webinars, and taught in-person workshops at several events per year, including Adobe MAX, HOW Design LIVE, AIGA Eye on Design, the InDesign Conference, the Photoshop Conference, and CreativePro Week. While at these events, I also engaged with Lynda.com members through meetups and trade shows.
