I taught the Strengths and Materials lab for ME 3300. We used Instron testing machines and Bluehill software to demonstrate how to get the material properties of various materials. We also taught about combined loading problems using strain gages. The students also learn how to apply strain gages to soda cans and calculate the pressure inside of the can. There are other various lab experiments done that illustrate Strengths and Materials applications to real world engineering problems.
