I directed operations of 2 primary broadcast stations, 5 digital subchannels, a master control hub, and all digital platforms, including 37 hours weekly airtime and continuous online coverage. I oversaw 114 staff and 7 direct reports while reporting to the Group Manager. I guided my team through a high-definition launch, automation transition, a multimillion-dollar facility move while revamping the entire news operation, building a new sales team, and increasing the stations’ community involvement. I am accountable for managing major projects and a multimillion-dollar budget to facilitate cash flow and EBITA objectives. Developed PR, marketing and communications strategies and oversaw all internal and external communications. Experienced in crisis management and crisis communications. Promoted due to revenue performance, operational excellence, and creative revenue generating ideas, I was tasked with improving team building, accountability measures, and profitability for a local multimedia company. In this role, I managed and guided all departments in all facets of the duopoly television operation, including digital properties. Developing and executing strategic plans which included acquiring station programming drove success. Leveraging leadership skills, I held board positions with the broadcast industry and Dayton community while overseeing 120 staff members and 6 direct reports as well as a $20M profit/loss, reporting to the Executive VP, Television. I DROVE NEGOTIATION SKILLS AND INNOVATION TO GENERATE $900K TOTAL ANNUAL REVENUE STREAMS VIA NEW PROGRAMS: ✔ I generated $500K annual revenue and slashed costs by up to 10% – launched innovative lifestyle program – Living Dayton. ✔ I negotiated news share agreement with WBDT-TV to extend WDTN-TV news brand – garnering 50% of revenue sold. Successfully, I competed against leading news provider in Dayton market to secure contract, catapulting up to $400K additional revenue to WDTN. ✔ I directed WWHO-TV operations in Columbus until a new station manager was appointed.
As Station Manager for Lin Television, I oversaw general sales management responsibilities and television station operations, while establishing quotas and goals to boost revenue and ratings growth. I controlled expenses to maximize profits and oversaw profit/loss of $8.5M. I PROGRAMMED THE STATION FOR MAXIMUM REVENUE POTENTIAL AND OPTIMUM BUSINESS GROWTH: ✔ I created plans for increased viewership by negotiating deals wth providers to deliver optimal program viewing. ✔ I built a news share partnership with WBNS-TV that garnered station a newscast presented by WBNS-TV – the leading news provider in the Columbus market. This particular deal increased station viewership.
As General Sales Manager, I was promoted to recruit and train sales staff and manage client service, directing pricing and inventory management, while overseeing 150+ clients on average.
