Google Cloud Platform User experience
Leading multidisciplinary teams for PowerBI, PowerApps, and PowerAutomate (formerly Flow), I focus on making sure that research, analytics, content and design are deeply integrated into the fast moving, agile product development cycles to enable innovation and maximize impact on the Power Tier business. Delivered significant lift in Usage, UX quality, NPS and Revenue for Powertier.
Responsible for design research and execution across Azure management experience and other Azure services. I started and built the user research team for Azure and scaled the research practice to cover all Azure services. This ensured consistent quality of user experience across all services. My team also covered Power Apps, Power BI, and Flow. Significantly grew adoption, engagement, and NPS through rigorous qualitative, quantitative, and analytics research and drove successful integration of data within agile product development.
Responsible for large feature areas in: - Azure UX framework (2012-2014) - Intune client management service (2008-2012) - Group Policy (2006-2008) As a Program Manager, I was responsible for customer connection, technical and UX specifications and project management of my areas of ownership. With each new product and role, I embraced the opportunity to learn about new sets of customers, emerging technologies, and working with new teams with different cultures.
I defined the UX vision of unifying the configuration and management of the various roles on Windows Server 2008. I executed on this vision as a design lead of 3 UX designers. We crafted a consistent and easy to use user experience for Windows Server. A big part of the challenge was to create a UX framework that could be implemented by various component teams who were responsible for the UX of their features. We did this through a very disciplined approach of defining user experience goals, design strategy and patterns with feedback loops from external customers and internal partners. We also delivered comprehensive guidance for designers and developers to adopt and implement the prescribed UX patterns consistently and with high quality and visual polish. Windows Server 2008 was the release that set this product on a path to modern, consistent and easy management experience.
Small Business Server 2003: I was in a small UX team with 2 user researchers. Through close partnership and a tight loop of iterative design informed by user data, we transformed the user experience. It went from a set of disjointed and complicated experiences to a cohesive, easy and delightful experience to install, configure and manage all services on the Small Business Server. This version of the server changed the revenue model of the product from being an ISV driven sales model to direct sales where a small business owner could purchase and get the server running on their own in a few hours.
I was responsible for User Experience on a number of features in Outlook Web Access Exchange Server and SharePoint I worked closely with Program managers to define scenarios and use cases, and envision user experience by generating mockups and prototypes of numerous ux options. I also worked with user researchers to validate these solutions with customers. And lastly, worked closely with developers to implement the specified design.
As an information designer, I was responsible for - Participating in user research and analysis - Generating design ideas based on the business goals of the client and user research - Creating compelling design prototypes to test with users and convey the value proposition of the design strategy to the clients - Creating design briefs, environments or online assets to share user insights and design ideas with the client
As an interaction designer at Morningstar, I worked with analysts and product managers to envision the user experience for StockTools, a CD-rom product targeted at professional stock analysts for research and analysis. I worked under direction and mentorship from a senior interaction designer and was responsible for doing site maps and navigation flow, data visualization, designing icons and building interactive prototypes. This was a period of intense learning for me and I truly fell in love with information visualization and interaction design in software.
