As Project Engineer my prime responsibility is technical and business delivery of a $25 million Class 8 Semi-Truck Full Cab Body-In-White launch program. Responsible to review product/process for manufacturing ability, manage program at vendors, collaborate cross functional team towards a successful launch. This encompasses current production and in-cycle actions.
Experience at Ford's $1B Green Field Assembly Plant in India in Development of Sheet Metal Structures, Closures and Mechanisms. - Develop Body-in-White components to meet structural, NVH and crash test requirements. - Lead delivery of craftsmanship fit-finish as per vehicle aligned targets and support team to maintain capability. - Continuous design development of Body-in-White components to reduce in-plant issues, improve customer satisfaction and cost reduction. - Resolution and report out of issues using Six-Sigma, DMAIC and G8D approach. - Perform calibration verification, analyse and improve Door Closing Efforts to meet industry standards and customer expectation. - Develop sealing strategy in paint shop to meet vehicle line corrosion standards. - Initiate ASTM and SAE corrosion tests for any corrosion issue on field and make necessary design changes for any corrosion failure. - Support bench-marking and target setting for forward models. - Support cross-functional team to achieve capability using Six-Sigma approach. - Interface with suppliers for manufacturing feasibility, validation and other engineering activities as specified for the assigned commodity.
Commodity engineer for Sealing System, Exterior and Interior Mirrors and Water-Shield. Attribute engineer for Water-leak and Air-leak. Key Roles: - Develop and meet segment aligned components requirements for function, cost and weight. - Develop DVP&R, DFMEA, PFMEA, SCCAF and GD&T documents for commodities. - Analyse and sign-off design if all the criteria's are met. - Make necessary design changes if any of the design or process criteria is not met. - Collaborate with suppliers to support prototype build events and overall vehicle development milestones. - Support component and subsystem design verification plans and test methods with suppliers. - Complete component and system validation as required , ensuring system targets are met and optimized. - Support delivery of customer-driven exterior system targets for craftsmanship, cost and weight. - Interpret CAE simulation results and integrate recommendations into product design.
Six-Sigma project - Identify the variables impacting daily break-down and efficiency of Hot Strip Mill, Measure the factors affecting these variables, Analyze the reports, Improve the variation by placing solutions on the production floor and establish controls to make sure the variation remains within Six Sigma limit.
