Sean Gantka's current jobs
Producing a new amazing animated series and living the dream that 11 year old me projected for himself many years ago.
Sean Gantka's past jobs
Began with a focus on the Design department and was recently tasked with also setting up the in-house retake animation team. Working with the Creators, Art Director, and Producers to establish and maintain the work flow and production numbers for the show. Managing a production team, a team of designers, and a team of retake animators.
I oversaw physical production of two series simultaneously: The Loud House and The Casagrandes. I worked with our producer to create and maintain budgets and schedules for both shows, managed production teams and worked with vendors studios to track all assets and materials. I generated and maintained contracts and payments for crew members and vendors, international and domestic. On The Casagrandes, I was involved with the staffing of crew and all the processes therein. For both shows, I produced a series of shorts the utilized in-house and freelance talent.
I oversaw all aspects of physical production for a pilot animatic. I built, proposed, and maintained a budget and schedule for the project. I detailed progress and cost reports to the studio on a regular basis. I was responsible for managing a remote team of international and domestic artists, and set up and managed contracts and payments with all talent and vendor studios. I also managed to keep the project on schedule and under budget even after major snags in the process.
On Legend of Korra I was responsible for helping to finish out the series. I worked with the creative team to track and archive the assets and helped the Post Production team with the final deliverable materials. On The Loud House I helped our Producer and creative team build the show. We established the schedule, established processes and hired the crew. During production I managed the team of Coordinators and Production Assistants and help solve problems that arose in the writing, storyboarding, animatic, recording, and shipping phases of Pre-Production. I also worked very closely with our animation studio, Jam Filled, to establish their production pipeline as it related to our show.
I worked to create and produce independent animation with my partners. We collaborated with various artists from around the country to produce animated shorts of our own creation, mainly for YouTube. Much of my focus was the management of the team and establishing our schedules and work flows for the different projects.
I teach various composition and literature classes in an online environment.
I worked with the Storyboard Artists, Directors, and Supervisors, assisting in any way needed while coordinating their schedules for pitches, revisions, and various deadlines. I also sent all storyboard materials to our overseas studio and dealt with any questions or issues that came up on their end. I also assisted with, and eventually took over, the responsibilities of Design Coordinator and worked with our Design Team (Character, BG, and Prop Design) and Color Team (BG Painters and Color Stylist) to schedule and complete their assignments, and worked with our Art Director to note, revise, approve, track and ship our assets to our overseas studio.
As Script Coordinator, I managed the Writing Schedule, formatted and distributed drafts, took notes in writing sessions and meetings, attended and noted at voice records, took notes and tracked the needs and recordings for ADR in the post production phase. As Production Coordinator, I helped to format storyboards, track designs, send materials to our overseas studio, and maintain the general production schedule.
I worked as the sole Production Assistant on The Legend of Korra as well as the Executive Assistant to Bryan Konietzko, Michael DiMartino, Joaquim Dos Santos, Ki-Hyun Ryu, Lauren Montgomery, and, for a brief time, Josh Middleton. I began this position in April of 2010 and maintained these responsibilities, on top of the other positions I picked up - Script Coordinator, Production Coordinator, and Storyboard Coordinator - until December of 2012.
I taught Composition and Basic Skills for the English Department.
I did the voice of Stitch from the movie Lilo and Stitch, and the voice of Crush from the movie Finding Nemo. Both of these were improvisational, digital puppetry and voice over performance shows. I did the Stitch show for over 4 years and the Crush show for over 5.
I taught English 101 (Freshman Composition) and English 99 (Fundamental English) - both writing courses.
I interned with the Live Action Current Series and Development Department. I assisted with script coverage and the management of the development database as well as any other daily tasks that needed an intern's assistance (yup, photocopying).
