Car bodies widely recognized as most aerodynamic ever achieved, hailed in publications like The Wall Street Journal, Car and Driver, Wired, Popular Science, and Rolling Stone and at such events as the Global Green Oscar Party. • Pushed projects to finish line amid extreme pressure, devising solutions unforeseen by engineers; built parts from blueprints–and designed them from scratch when necessary. • As team leader/project manager, recruited, inspired and guided technical crew while translating electrical and mechanical engineer’s ideas. • Using off-road racing knowledge (see Xtreme section below), re-engineered all tubing connections, cross- bracing and load paths for tubes; designed and built, mostly without blueprints, body-panel attachments such as belly pan; wheel pants; door panels and pulls; battery box; steering column; brake-pedal mounts; air intakes and plenums for cooling; design cradles; more. • Conceived and implemented shop layout and production line. • Started 5S and took lead in other testing and safety procedures for both vehicles and shop; designed FMVSS- compliant crash-test jig, roof-crush jig and door-crush jig. • Participated in two-day management/leadership course, enabling further expansion of supervisory role.
• Ran sites, oversaw all trades and subcontractors, fabricated metal items and handled finish carpentry for general contractor of multimillion-dollar homes. • Took over metal work that had previously been outsourced, producing higher-quality output at greater speed and reducing costs by a third. • Point guy on all metal projects for custom maker of residential and commercial furnishings and architectural details. After shop manager’s departure assumed Supervisors role and whipped production process into shape. • Wrangled every aspect of production: running crew, ordering supplies, adjusting designs, welding, grinding, milling and installing. Signature work on such high-profile locales as the Hard Rock Café, Park Lofts, Hotel Solamar, Staybridge Hotel, Onyx, Titleist Testing Facility and SWRB Architects, as well as myriad private residences, including San Diego’s Fisher Home (featured in Architectural Digest, May 2005).
